Buy Crocus 'Remembrance' Dutch crocus bulbs: Bigger than average blooms

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: gritty, poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: February and March
  • Hardiness: fully hardy
  • Bulb size: 7/8

Big, purple-mauve flowers with a beautiful silhouette, appear from late winter on slender stems. These arise from the clumps of white-striped, green foliage, which provides a nice contrast and remains interesting after the flowers have faded. Useful for creating a blast of seasonal colour when little else is in bloom, they can be planted in pots, windowboxes or allowed to naturalise in the border or lawn.

  • Garden care: Plant bulbs in naturalistic drifts 10cm (4in) deep in September or October.

  • CAUTION do not eat ornamental bulbs

Pretty crocuses
