We grow our fully hardy plants outdoors throughout the year, which makes them exceptionally tough and resilient. This approach gives us such confidence in our plants that we offer a 5-year guarantee on most plants we classify as fully hardy, including:

Giving your plants the right care

Plants are living things, so their health also depends on where they are planted, the conditions they experience and the care they receive.

To be covered by our 5-year guarantee, plants should be planted in suitable growing conditions and given reasonable care appropriate to the plant and the weather.

Watering and establishing your plants

Newly planted plants need regular attention while their roots establish. This is particularly important during warm, dry or windy weather, when plants can lose moisture quickly.

During prolonged periods of hot or dry weather, additional watering may be needed, even for established plants. Plants grown in pots and containers can dry out particularly quickly and may require more frequent watering.

Where possible, water early in the morning or later in the afternoon or evening, when temperatures are cooler and less water is lost through evaporation. During very hot, sunny weather, try to avoid watering in the hottest part of the day.

Choosing the right growing conditions

Plants should be grown in conditions reasonably suited to their individual requirements. This includes considering factors such as sunlight, soil and drainage, exposure and available space.

Extreme weather

Gardens naturally experience changing weather conditions. However, our guarantee does not cover plant loss caused primarily by unsuitable growing conditions, lack of appropriate care or watering, or exceptional weather conditions such as prolonged drought, extreme heat, flooding or severe frost.

Experiencing a period of extreme weather does not automatically invalidate your guarantee. We will consider the circumstances and the care the plant has received when reviewing your claim.

Here's how it works

1. Take a photo of the plant that hasn't survived. This helps us to record and understand any problems with plant quality.

2. Send the photo, along with a description of the problem and your order reference number, to our customer service team via the Guarantee Claim Form

3. Our plant experts will review the information provided to assess the issue. Where needed, we may ask for additional information about the plant's location, growing conditions, watering and general care.

4. If your claim is successful, we'll offer a replacement or gift voucher.

Terms & conditions

• The 5-year guarantee applies to eligible plants displaying our 5 year guarantee stamp.
• The guarantee commences from the original date of purchase.
• Claims may be declined where the plant has not received reasonable care appropriate to its needs and growing conditions.
• Unavailable products may be replaced with an equivalent item.
• Successful claims cover the cost of the plant in question and do not include the original delivery charge.
• We offer replacements or gift vouchers only. No cash refunds are provided under the 5-year guarantee.
