Buy Geranium phaeum 'Album' cranesbill: Small, white nodding flowers. Will thrive in shade

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained
  • Rate of growth: average to fast
  • Flowering period: May to June
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

A useful geranium that will thrive even in damp or dry shade. This has small, nodding, white flowers with yellow centres in late spring to early summer, held high above green, deeply lobed leaves, with distinctive purple blotches around the centre. It will quickly spread to form a hummock of foliage that is good for suppressing weeds. Use it in woodland, among ferns, where the white flowers will shine, or under deciduous trees.

  • Garden care: In midsummer rejuvenate plants that are beginning to look jaded, by removing old flowered stems and leaves. Lift and divide large colonies in spring.

lovely but flowers dont last long

Plant is thriving and has had its first bloom which was delicate and pretty although did fall over alot. I'm hoping there will be a second bloom? ?

Great Geranium

Planted in area shaded by shrubs and small trees ( along with liriope muscari 'Okina'). Grew well over last summer and flowered. Still looking good now (January). Pleased with purchase, Crocus plants always arrive in excellent condition and superior to most local garden centre offerings.

I absolutely love this geranium!

This geranium has done brilliantly in my garden, I bought 3 two are in the ground and one in a pot and I'm happy to say they have grown so well.

Beautiful flower, bought for shady spot.

I still have hopes for this lovely flower, but find it so slow to grow after a year. I do wonder if my 'dry conditions' are drier than intended.
