This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: most soils, except very dry or boggy
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Lightly scented, dark-eyed flower heads with slender ray florets that have a rich orange base, fading to near-yellow towards their outer tips. A showy, robust and floriferous cultivar.

  • Garden care: Lift and divide congested colonies in autumn or spring. In autumn cut back all dead flower stems to the ground. Coneflowers benefit from a spring or autumn mulch with well-rotted compost.

I'm having trouble establishing this one

This is planted in a good position but I'm having trouble getting it to thrive.

Orange marguerite

Lovely colours

I initially purchased 3 of these at end of the summer season in 2017 so didn't see them in flower. Unfortunately following the Beast from the East and months and inches upon inches of snow only 1 plant started to grow once the temperatures warmed up. This was not a problem however as Crocus kindly replaced the 2 plants and these have put on plenty of green growth. Have not seen any flower buds on the 2 replacement plants as yet but am not concerned given their late start compared to other one. The flowers on the original plant are truly gorgeous and add a real pop of colour to my border. Looking forward to next year when I hope for an even better display once they've had more time to establish.
