Buy Sempervivum collection house leeks collection: Great for alpine beds and stone walls

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil with added grit
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

These decorative evergreen groundcovering plants can be used to great effect in troughs, alpine beds, stone walls and even to soften the gaps between paving slabs. In this collection, you will receive 6 different un-named types. They are all quite different, but they all have rosettes of succulent leaves and clusters of star-shaped summer flowers. After each rosette has produced flowers it will die off, but it is soon replaced with a new lateral rosette that will form on a runner. Please note that the ceramic pot shown in some of the images is not included. They do however make excellent potted plants, and if you wish to pot yours up, we do have a wide range of pots on our website to choose from.

  • Garden care: Cut back spreading species after flowering. Water moderately when actively growing and avoid winter wet.

Great value and good selection

I have these in a border near the house. They are slowly spreading with a little help. I have had maybe 50-100 mini plants off them in a year. Plan to use them on a green roof in spring.

Really nice

Really nice selection of colour and texture. These were larger and more lush than pictured, with many already dropping new florets that I planted in other pots.

Which sized alpine trough would you recommend for the collection please, and what sort of compost should be used?

Garden_novice

You will need the larger trough - and if you click on the following link, it will take you to our collection, with the trough, the sempervivum collection and a link to a video explaining how to go about potting them up. https://www.crocus.co.uk/bomcard/_/sempervivum-collection-and/sempervivum-collection-and-alpine-trough/classid.2000027642/
