Buy Paulownia tomentosa foxglove tree: A magnificent flowering tree

This tree is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: fast growing
  • Flowering period: May
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Fragrant, foxglove-like, pinkish-lilac flowers appear on bare stems in May, followed by large, heart-shaped, bright green leaves. This spectacular deciduous tree looks lovely set in the middle of a large, sunny lawn. A highly recommended plant, it flowers best in areas with long, hot summers, and copes well with urban pollution - although it may take several years to establish before flowering.

  • Garden care: In late winter remove misplaced, diseased or crossing branches. Place in a position where it will be sheltered from strong, drying winds.
