Buy Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa 'Red Coral' red rhipsalis: The leaves change colour when grown in bright light

  • Position: bright but indirect light
  • Soil: good potting compost
  • Rate of growth: average to fast
  • Hardiness: tender (indoors only)
  • Current height: approximately 20cm (+ or - 10% including the pot)
  • Pot cover: choose a 16cm pot cover to give a good fit over the pot

The slender, flattened foliage of this interesting epiphytic succulent will remain green if it's kept well away from a window, but if it's grown in a bright spot, it turns a rich coral-red. Also, if it's really happy where it is, you may also see small pink or green flushed flowers develop along the outer edges of the leaves, and these are often followed by small berries. It's a cracking plant, that's really low maintenance - so perfect for both the novice or the more experienced indoor gardener.

  • Home care: Water freely when in growth, but keep drier in winter. Mist the leaves regularly with water to increase humidity and make sure the winter temperatures stay above 10°C. Repot each year.
