Buy Paeonia lactiflora 'Mother's Choice' paeony / peony: Glorious large fully double scented flowers

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, moisture-retentive yet well-drained
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

This gorgeous peony produces exquisite, fully double, large and fragrant blush white flowers, which are sometimes attractively marked with tiny crinson flecks. They look a little like roses and top the strong stems from early to midsummer. A floriferous variety, 'Mother's Choice' makes an excellent garden plant, and will also produce superb cut flowers for the vase. They make a lovely gift too. Plant it close to a pathway or entrance, where the fabulous scent can be really appreciated.

This paeonia has been field grown, however in order to keep the roots hydrated and promote fresh new growth, we have potted them up. Therefore, your plant may not have a well developed root system just yet, so you should not worry if the soil falls away when you are planting it out.

  • Garden care:Deadhead after flowering. In early spring apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch with well-rotted compost or manure. One of the more 'flop-resistant' double varieties, it will benefit from staking for a little extra support.

Exquisite flower

Such a beautiful peony! It arrived in excellent healthy condition, ready to be planted in the garden, and already had three flowers getting ready to come out. Once planted, it got acclimatised quickly and the flowers came out.
