Buy Geranium 'Lilac Ice' cranesbill: A new sport of the ever-popular 'Rozanne'

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Flowering period: June to October
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

A sport of the ever-popular Rozanne, this new geranium is bound to be popular. Its flowers are a soft lilac-pink, while the foliage they rise above, is subtly mottled yellowish green. Less vigorous, but no less hardy than its parent, this one is better for lining the edges of a path, or being at the front of the border as it won't stray too far.

  • Garden care: In midsummer rejuvenate plants that are beginning to look jaded, by removing old flowered stems and leaves. Lift and divide large colonies in spring.

A beautiful geranium

5

A lovely delicate-looking geranium with an unusual lilac colour, an exception to the usual blues or pinks, and a great addition to my geranium collection. Slightly later to flower than some. It looks super planted next to some deeper purple flowers, eg Salvia 'Caradonna'.

Quite The Performer!

I wasn't able to plant her out right away, so she had to put up with waiting, for a few weeks, in a shady spot of my north facing garden, until her bed was made. She was most forgiving - to the extent that she managed to cheerfully bloom in her temporary surroundings. The flowers are very pretty, and while their colour might be delicate, they're made of strong stuff. I have paired her with Sweet Heidy, in front of pink and blue nepeta, and can't wait to see her again, later in the year.
