Buy Delphinium 'Cameliard Group' delphinium: Pretty lavender-blue flowers

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Forming part of the Pacific Hybrid Series, this tall-stemmed delphinium produces its larger than average silvery blue flowers in tight formation around the upright stem. Wonderful in the early summer border, it also has a good resistance to powdery mildew.

  • Garden care: Stake with bamboo canes in mid-spring. During the growing season apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-3 weeks and wearing gloves cut back the faded flower stems to a flowering side-shoot. At the end of autumn cut back and compost the faded flower stems.

  • Harmful if eaten

Essential Cottage garden pkants

Lovely plants in shades of blue. Hoping they will return this year

The picture is deceiving

I bought this delphinium hoping it would be a brighter shade of purple like the photo suggests. It has flowered well but is actually more of a pale blue/lilac colour. Nonetheless it is healthy and has grown very tall, and seems to be happy in a sunny spot in my flower bed.
