Mark Fane
Prior to joining Waterers in 1990, Mark worked for Foreign & Colonial Ventures for five years. During his time there, he was closely involved in a number of rapidly growing businesses. He has a degree in Politics and Economics and an MBA from INSEAD Business School. Waterers was sold in 2003, having grown it with his brother Peter into the UK's leading corporate ground maintenance company. In 2000 he launched Crocus with Peter Clay. From 2009 to 2017 he was the non-executive Chairman of ICG Enterprise Trust, a £500m private equity trust. Between 2009 to 2019 he was a trustee of the Royal Horticulture Society as well as Chairman of the RHS investment Committee between 2017 to 2019. He was Chairman of the Garden Museum between 2011 and 2023 and is currently a director of the Chatsworth House Trust. He is a non-executive director of Nurture landscape holdings Ltd and a trustee of Project Giving Back, a grant giving body established in 2021 to support charities exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He was awarded an MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours List.
