This compact bay tree features aromatic, evergreen leaves that are perfect for cooking, adding rich flavour to soups, sauces, and stews.
With a naturally dense, rounded habit, it can be clipped into neat shapes or left to grow to its mature height and spread of around 3m. The young foliage emerges with golden tones on red stems, adding seasonal interest to its leathery, dark green leaves.
Laurus nobilis Little Ragu is highly adaptable, thriving in neutral to alkaline soils and showing good resistance to heat, drought, and heavy pruning at maturity, making it an excellent choice for containers, formal hedging, or culinary gardens.

How to care for Laurus nobilis Little Ragu ('Monrik'):
Plant in a sunny or partially shaded position with well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. It thrives in sheltered spots, such as patios or near walls, and grows well in containers, making it a versatile choice for small gardens.
Water regularly during the growing season, especially in hot, dry weather, and feed with a slow-release fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth.
To maintain its compact shape, lightly prune established plants twice during summer using secateurs rather than shears to avoid damaging the leaves.
Protect container-grown plants from frost in colder climates by moving them to a sheltered location or wrapping pots in insulating material, such as horticultural fleece, during winter.
