This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

I reviewed the caryopteris before in glowing terms, I have 5 in the garden and was a bit concerned they never flowered as well as expected. This year after a colder than normal winter going down to -10deg looks like they have all died off with only a few of the branches showing any sign of sprouting. Would definitely say they shouldn't be classed as fully hardy, everything else in the garden is growing including 2 rosemary plants in pots that were left out over winter.

It was very little difference to other caryopteris.

Attractive to wildlife (Bees, Hoverflies etc). Not many attractive blue flowering shrubs of this size available.

busy trying to create a bee friendly garden this summer, planted all the usual hebes, lavenders, sedums etc...decided to try this plant, amazing, I had bees trying to get to the flowers even before the plant had been fully taken out of the box. Very intense colour of blue- has become my favourite plant.

Camelia, Fuchsia, Heuchera, Monarda, Antirrhinum, Rosa and Petunia to get you started! Even though many plants are safe, some pets, like humans, may have a sensitivity or allergic reaction to certain substances, so it's important to observe your pet's behavior for any possible signs of distress.
