Terracotta translates really well to indoor plants. Porous and drains well to reduce the risk of overwatering (the biggest houseplant killer) and breathable so air reaches the roots. It also retains warmth - especially good for tender plants, seedlings and cuttings. Julia Leakey - Product Designer

Description

Great for balconies, terraces, urban gardens or windowsills, our terracotta indoor/outdoor pot comes as a set with a matching saucer to let you create a standalone low-maintenance display.

The saucer acts as a reservoir for any excess after watering, giving plants a backup if you forget to water or the weather is very dry. If you keep it topped up, birds and insects can pop by and use it for drinking too.

A good choice for soft herbs like basil, mint and coriander, salad leaves, or other edible or ornamental plants that like plenty of water. Available in a choice of two sizes which work well in combination.

The pots are hand thrown in Turkey by Argun and his son, 3rd and 4th generation potters from the Izmir region on the Aegean coast. Made using local clay, they will age to a wonderful patina as the salts slowly leach to the surface.

Though fired to 1080°C to make them as frost resistant as possible, we would always suggest moving empty or full pots into a sheltered spot in the colder months.

Any white specks in the terracotta are lime granules, which occur naturally in raw Turkish clay. Sometimes when a pot is fired, the clay around them can split out a little, but this won't compromise the strength of the finished product. The lime helps to bind the clay and ultimately makes for a stronger pot.

Please note: as these pots are thrown by hand, they will vary slightly in height and diameter from batch to batch, so the measurements below are approximate.
