Plant description
Deep red flower buds appear in autumn and last through winter before opening into fragrant white blooms in early spring. This compact, evergreen shrub has glossy, dark green leaves with a reddish tint, adding year-round interest.

How to care for Skimmia japonica Rubella:
When planting, enrich the soil with plenty of well-rotted organic matter to improve moisture retention, soil fertility and drainage. Skimmia prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil, so avoid chalky conditions unless supplemented with ericaceous compost. Water well after planting and keep the soil consistently moist, especially in dry spells.
