Brilliant, sturdy and comfortable

5

A few years ago i bought some long handled rhs endorsed fork and trowel. My wife like the trowel so we got a second. Having moved to a heavy clay garden i noticed the tines in the fork were flexing and one of the trowels is slightly bent. As my wife has started using the fork as well it was time to get another! After some research, i found this. Its very sturdy, copes with the clay well and the bramble and thistle roots dont stand a chance! Very pleased with it. As an aside, the web page suggests a crowbar for stubborn stones, personally i dont think you can beat a newcastle trencher for maximum leverage of deep roots, large stones etc, bulldog do an excellent one available at toolstation.

Ideal fork

5

For some time i have been using a long handled fork from another well known rhs supplier but have always been worried about putting too much pressure on as the tines tend to flex. As my wife has also started to use it and we both wanted to use it at the same time, it was time for a second long handled fork and i saw this. Initial impressions are its ideal. Have been using it to dig out brambles and thistles and can put enough leverage on it to get the roots out without any flexing of the tines. The other one comes with a leather strap which is useful for hanging in the tool shed, this just comes with a hole in the handle. Fortunately i have some old leather laces but it would be nice to have come with one. Other than that, i think this is going to last a long time and im now considering the trowel to go with it, despite us already one each from the other supplier (one of which has already started to bend!)
