Buy Juniperus × pfitzeriana 'Old Gold' juniper: An impressive foliage plant

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: any well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Spreading stems are clothed in bronze-flushed yellow foliage, which holds its colour well throughout the year. Ideal to use as a specimen plant, it will form an impressive, flat-topped shrub that looks great when planted with rounded and more upright conifers.

  • Garden care: Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter. Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn.

Juniperus saviour

Juniper's are not only beautiful when they grow but the berries are good for you too. I was totally upset when my juniper after 5 years died due to pests, but crocus was so helpful and supplied me with 2 small junipers which are growing lovely and hopefully in a few years will be large enough to go back outside. I have always shopped with crocus and they have always supplied beautiful shrubs and flowers that continue to thrive. Junipers can cause skin irritation due to the spikey needles not ideal around children.
