If you love neutrals and a clean look of white and green in your garden, welcome the graceful look of white spring flowers. From elegant tulips to delicate snowdrops, these timeless blooms will bring you joy in the darkest months.
We've spent the last 12 months selecting the best bulbs for spring 2025. From small iris reticulata to big alliums, we ensure these beautiful flowers reach their full potential. Here are some of our favourites, which will give you timeless spring displays.
Galanthus nivalis is one of the most beautiful early spring flowering bulbs. The classic snowdrop, flowers in frosty January when little else has come to life yet. Classic and elegant, their nodding white flowers are honey-scented and give pollinators essential winter pollen. Plant en masse in lawns or woodland areas for a carpet of white flowers.
If you love white tulips, the best, in our opinion, is Tulipa 'White Triumphator'. It is a beautiful lil-shaped tulip with strong, tall stems, making it perfect for cutting. If you prefer double-flowered tulips, try Tulipa 'Mondial' with its lightly feathered white petals.
Narcissus 'Thalia' is a stunning pure white daffodil that flowers from March to April. Plant it in large swathes for a stunning display throughout your garden. Daffodils are also naturally perennials, so they will return year after year.
If you love a miniature display of spring blooms, the best white crocus is 'Jeanne d'Arc'. Flowering in February, they will add elegance to pots or lawns. We love to pair them with pastels to create a delicate regency-style display.
Finally, try Allium 'Mount Everest', for bulbs that will flower in the summer. The stunning round white heads appear in June with 50 or more tiny star-shaped flowers. Growing up to 1.2m, it will add stunning structure and grace to your summer borders.
The planting time for different spring bulbs varies depending on their flowering time. Generally, you should plant white spring flower bulbs in early autumn, around September or October. This includes daffodil bulbs, crocus bulbs and snowdrop bulbs. Planting bulbs in autumn gives them plenty of time to grow roots before the ground is too cold.
However, tulip bulbs are the main exception to this rule. If planted too early, they may develop the fungal disease 'tulip fire', stopping them from producing flowers. The best time to plant is around early winter, in November.
Add more elegant florals at the start of the year; white spring bulbs are the perfect option. From January through to June, you can create 6 months of blooms.
In January, we love the classic snowdrop, with its gentle nodding head and touches of green. You can try a single or double variety like 'Flore Pleno'.
When February arrives, daffodils, crocus, and iris reticulata all start to bloom. Iris 'White Van Vliet' is a stunning white spring iris with yellow-striped falls. They are also perfect for cutting with a long vase life.
Narcissus Ice Follies is one of the best early-flowering spring daffodils. Its white petals and buttery yellow trumpet fade as they age. It flowers prolifically, so well worth a space in your garden.
If you love Crocus, try 'Snow Bunting'. It has a yellow centre with a white petal that looks beautiful when planted in lawns or window boxes.
Plant miniature white spring bulbs in pots, windowboxes, or on the lawn for a stunning effect. From little crocus to muscari, these make the perfect dainty fillers.
Fritillaria are stunning mini white flowers with pretty white bells that flower in April and May. They are perfect for naturalising in a woodland edge and love moist soil.
In May, we love the gentle clusters of lily-of-the-valley. Stems of white rounded blooms appear in woodland areas, and their perfume will fill your garden. Use them as cut flower to bring white spring flowers into your home.
Try Narcissus 'Petral' for a miniature white daffodil. In March and April, pure white clusters of two to five nodding, scented flowers appear. They open over a long period and add elegance and fragrance to your garden.
If you like white tulips, consider planting species tulips. They are small and will spread over time, returning each year. We love Tulipa turkestanica, with its mainly white flower and pink or greenish yellow flush.
Try paperwhites for pure white colour in your home at Christmas. Plant these specifically bred Narcissus inside for a stunning display in the winter months. The best varieties are Galilee or Ziva.
We also have a range of white amaryllis, a stunning alternative to the traditional red. Hippeastrum 'Marilyn' is a stunning double-flowered white variety that will add grace to your Christmas home.
