Plant description

A compact semi-double dahlia variety with truly impressive double flowers appearing in shades of fuchsia pink with a raspberry core and with bright yellow, insect attracting centres. This supercharged ‘bedding’ dahlia has been bred to provide spectacular displays in pots or seasonal borders.

How to care for Dahlia Dahlietta Demi (Dahlietta Surprise Series):

Protect under glass or in a frost-free, sheltered location until risk of frost has passed, then plant out or pot up into larger containers. While in growth, provide a high-nitrogen liquid feed each week in June, then a high-potash fertiliser each week from July to September. In mild areas, leave them in situ over winter, but protect the crown with a generous layer of dry mulch. In colder areas, carefully lift and clean the tubers once the first frosts have blackened the foliage and allow them to dry naturally indoors. Then place the dry tubers in a shallow tray, just covered with slightly moist potting compost, sand or vermiculite and store in a frost-free place until planting out again.

Please note:

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

Plant up summer containers

After the last frost date, plant up containers with tender flowering bedding and reliable foliage plants. Line terracotta pots with polythene, taking care not to cover the planting holes, to reduce water loss through the porous sides of the pot.
