Buy Anemone coronaria Saint Bridgid Group Mixed garden anemone bulbs ( syn. Anemone Saint Brigid or St Brigid ): Elegant double flowers, ideal for summer bouquets

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: light, sandy soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: March to April (or June to July if planted in spring)
  • Hardiness: fully hardy
  • Bulb size: 5/6

Splendid, semi-double or double flowers in crimson, blue, violet and white from March to April and fresh green, parsley-like leaves. These jewel-like anemones are ideal for providing early spring colour for a sheltered, sunny site. For the best results pre-soak the tubers before planting and protect with a cloche or dry mulch against extreme winter weather.

  • Garden care: Soak the tubers overnight in cool water and plant them in naturalistic drifts (it doesn't matter which way up) 5cm deep and 15cm apart from September to November, or (for later flowers in spring), February to April. Ideally you should choose a spot where they can be left undisturbed so they can naturalise and spread. Avoid excessively wet conditions when dormant.

  • CAUTION do not eat ornamental bulbs
