Buy Geranium wallichianum Crystal Lake (PBR) cranesbill: A pale blue flowering herbaceous perennial

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

‘Crystal Lake’ is a stunning, delicately tinted, pale blue flowering herbaceous perennial with reddish-purple veins and deep, crimson red stamens. In bloom from early to mid-summer, why not combine this geranium with the flouncy form of Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’ or pick out the delicious wine red colouring with the sumptuous Astrantia major 'Claret'?

  • Garden care: When planting ‘Crystal Lake’, incorporate some well-rotted compost into the planting hole. In midsummer, rejuvenate plants that are beginning to look jaded by cutting back old flowered stems and leaves to their growth points at soil level and feed with seaweed extract. Once established, lift and divide large clumps in spring.
