Nothing heralds the spring like the yellow daffodil. From bright yellow to soft lemon, they will bring you joy from the earliest days of the year until the last days of spring.
There are many choices for yellow daffodils, which can be a little overwhelming. We've hand-picked some of our favourites to make your border flourish.
With frilly-edged petals, we love Narcissus 'Apotheose' - an exquisite double daffodil with a sweet fragrance. The double yellow petals and orange frills in the centre will stand out in your pots. As a clump-forming variety, it will return year after year bigger and better.
Our top choice for a miniature variety is Narcissus 'Tête-à-tête'. The bulbs will flower abundantly from March to April. Pair it with blue muscari for a stunning Windobox display.
For a soft lemon colour, we love daffodil 'Lemon Drops'. It has pale yellow and cream flowers and appears in March and April. Plant it at the front of the border, where it will clump and spread to create stunning displays year after year.
For flowers at the start of the year, plant Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation'. In sheltered spots, it can bloom in late December and Early January. This makes it ideal for the first pop of colour when little else in in flower.

You can easily plant daffodils anytime from September through early November. We recommend planting the bulbs in early autumn to ensure they have enough time to grow roots before the frost starts.
To get the best blooms, plant them in full sun. Plant them two to three times the bulbs' height, typically around 15-20cm deep. If you have heavier soil, plant them a little shallower and scatter sharp sand at the base of the hole to improve drainage.
Miniature daffodils are a perfect way to cheer up pots and windowboxes. Here are a few of our favourites to plant for this spring.
1. Daffodil 'Baby Boomer' is a timeless miniature daffodil. A multi-headed variety that will carry 5 to 6 sweetly scented bright yellow flowers. Perfect for cutting and bringing in the home.
2. Narcissus romieuxii 'Julia Jane' looks like a group of little teacups with almost lemon flowers. They are great for both alpine gardens and potted seasonal bedding.
3. Tete-a-Tete Daffodils are one of the best sellers of all time. The perfect classic daffodils appear in March and April with their bright yellow petals and trumpets.
January and February can feel a little bleak. With little flowering and Christmas over, it's a time when bright yellow in the garden will bring you joy every day.
Daffodils are the perfect way to add these hints of joy to both your borders and pots. We hand-picked our favourite winter flowering yellow daffodils to bring you cheer in the darkest months.
1. Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation' is a fantastic early-flowering daffodil. It can even appear in milder winters in sheltered spots as early as December. The blooms appear in January and throughout February.
2. Narcissus 'Martinette' is an excellent option for a strongly scented daffodil. The flowers appear on stems in clusters of four or five flowers. Appearing in early spring, place them near a doorway to enjoy the scent.
3. Narcissus 'Topolino' is known for its sturdy habit. Appearing from February, it blooms in early spring with creamy white petals and bright yellow coronas.
