    The foliage of this decorative culinary sage has a tangerine-like scent, while the summer flowers add a vibrant shot of colour to borders or pots. Both the foliage (particularly the younger leaves) and the flowers can be used to dress salads, or jazz up summer drinks, while the leaves can be brewed for tea.

  • Garden care: Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring. Protect from excessive cold and waterlogged soils.
