  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average to fast-growing
  • Flowering period: June to the first frosts
  • Hardiness: tender (needs frost protection)

Create colourful hanging baskets with this fab mix of plants. This collection contains 60 large plug plants - 20 of each of the following.

Grown in individual plug cells, each plant measures about 5 - 7cm tall (from the base of the root to the top of the plant). They are ideal for keen gardeners who have a greenhouse where the plants can be grown on until they are ready for planting out in the garden once all chance of frost has passed.

  • Petunia 'Reflection' Low-growing and bushy, these plants are perfect for beds, pots and windowboxes. They come in a snazzy array of colours and will put on a wonderful summer-long display. You can either plant them on their own en-masse, or incorporate them into a full-blown bedding display. Either way they will look fab. Grows to 30cm.

  • Geranium 'White' White flowers are produced in profusion on the stout stems, which rise above bushy mounds of variegated foliage. They stand up well to rain and put on an impressive show that can last for months on end if they are deadheaded regularly. If you want to add some other colours to the display, then blues, purples, silvers and softer shades of pink would be ideal. Grows to 30cm.

  • Lobelia 'Trailing Mixed' A delightful lobelia mix in blues, reds, lilacs and whites. Perfect for adding colour to your hanging baskets or pots where they can trail over the edges. Like all lobelias, these flower profusely from early summer through to autumn. Grows to 25cm.

Please note that as we grow these for especially for you, we need to take full payment when you place your order so as to reserve stock for you. See above for despatch dates for this particular plant. To ensure that your plants arrive in the best possible condition each pack will be despatched individually.

The colours of these flowers complimented each other very well. I bought them two years in a row because they worked so well in my window boxes. They were healthy vibrant plants flowering all through Summer despite the vagaries of the Scottish weather. They were also very good value ordering them in Winter time.

Great hanging combination

Pleasant mixture of hanging plants to fill baskets or pots. Turning the baskets each few days seemed to open up more flowers and expose another side to the display.

I have just purchased a cast iron manger from Crocus and would like to know how many plug plants I can plant in it. The manger measures 13.5 ins across the top and 6.5 ins from front to back and top to bottom. It is obviously half a sphere in shape. Many thanks

Hello, There are no hard and fast rules as it will depend on whether or not you grow them on first, but personally I like to cram my baskets and pots with bedding, so I would probably use around 20 or so.

Helen

HOW MANY PLUG PLANTS WOULD YOU SUGGEST PER BASKET PLEASE? I HAVE THE PLASTIC TYPE THAT HAVE 12 'GATES' FOR PLANTS AROUND THE SIDE, APPROX 14" ACROSS THE TOP? ALSO WOULD YOU SUGGEST I JUST MIX UP THE 3 TYPES OF PLANTS OR IS THERE A FORMULA E.G. GERANIUMS AND PETUNIAS AT THE TOP, LOBELIA AT THE BOTTOM? MANY THANKS!

Sunlover

Hello, I like to really cram plants into a hanging basket, so if you are planting up the sides as well, then I would aim to have around 30 - 40 plants per 14" basket. I would aim to keep the geraniums (with some of the petunias) around the top, and the rest of the petunias and the lobelias around the sides.

June Week 1

If you do nothing else...water new plants. Make sure new additions do not suffer during dry spells. Plant up summer containers bedding once the threat of frosts has passed. Feed container plants about six weeks after planting. If it’s a nice day...trim he

Plant up summer containers

After the last frost date, plant up containers with tender flowering bedding and reliable foliage plants. Line terracotta pots with polythene, taking care not to cover the planting holes, to reduce water loss through the porous sides of the pot.
