Jazz up an area of partial shade with this colourful new ground cover. A more compact version of its commonly grown relative (A. reptans), it forms a dense cushion of small, slender leaves, which emerge in spring bright reddish pink before reverting to cream-edged grey-green. This showy new growth is soon followed by a profusion of rich purple/blue flowers, and then in late summer, a second (less prolific) flush will often appear. It makes an eye-catching gem for pots, window boxes or front of border positions. - Garden care: Lift and divide clumps when necessary to avoid congestion.
Goes well with
- Is this supposed to die off after the first floweringot it last month and it looked lovely, but now there's only a handful of leaves left and only two of them are the proper variagated leaves, the rest are plain green making it a fraction of the size it was when it arrived a month ago.
