  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile, preferably heavy but well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: July to October
  • Other features: mid-green leaves
  • Hardiness: fully hardy biennial

A breeding break-through has produced this, the first cherry-red black-eyed-Susan. It is incredibly free-flowering (provided it gets plenty of sun), and will create a dazzling display all through the summer. Often grown as an annual plant, it in in fact a short-lived perennial so may come back in its second year, and will often self-seed too. Plant them towards the front of the border and mix them with other hot shades of orange and yellow, or opt for bold, contrasting colours like deep purple.

Please keep in mind that these plants are biennial or short-lived perennials and are often treated as an annual.
