Described as the Armani of garden design, Luciano Giubbilei is a natural for Chelsea. Eventhough this is his first show garden, his work to date has been predominantly for private urban based clients wanting a sophisticated outside space to relax and entertain in. His style, is a very modern take on classical Italian design, with clean lines and understated elegance. His signature is immaculate layered hedging, combined with beautifully finished hard landscaping. In this garden he uses three layers of hornbeam, yew and box and contrasts it with sublime travertine marble.
In this garden Luciano will have two blocks of Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ which are counterpointed with 2 blocks of herbaceous planting. The colours should be as succulent as a summer pudding with Salvia caradonna, Astrantia ‘Hadspen Blood’ and ‘Claret’, Iris germanica ‘Deep black’ and Paeonia ’Buckeye Belle’.
It’s a lovely, simple design and ought to do very well.
