    Magnificent heads of pure white, funnel-shaped flowers with a deep orange-yellow flare in mid-spring and mid-green leaves. This bushy, deciduous azalea looks fabulous planted in large groups in a shrub border or woodland edge with humus-rich, acid soil. One of the most flamboyant varieties its leaves turn beautiful bonfire shades in autumn.

  • Garden care: Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
