  The main attraction of this recent introduction is the large pinnate foliage which is glossy green, flushed with red. Plant this if you want something with dramatic foliage and an architectural look. For added interest, pikes of creamy-pink, star-shaped flowers appear in mid to late summer.These plants love moist soil so thrive on the margins of a pond or stream, and are best grown in a sheltered, partially shady site.
  
  
• Garden care: Add lots of well-rotted leaf mould when planting. Protect the young foliage against slug damage using beer traps or environmentally friendly slug pellets. Lift and divide congested colonies in early spring. Shelter from cold, drying winds.
