Hepatica 'Forest Red' (Forest Series)
hepatica
- Position: partial shade
- Soil: fertile, moist but well-drained neutral to alkaline soil
- Rate of growth: slow growing
- Flowering period: March to April
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Bright magenta coloured flowers with a paler reverse, top upright stems in early spring. They look magnificent when allowed to form good-sized clumps, particularly when planted in association with other spring-flowering woodlanders. Very hard to find in the UK, we are expecting this wonderful perennial to be snapped up by avid plant collectors. - Garden care: Hepaticas resent being moved, so try to plant them where they can remain undisturbed for several years. Apply a generous layer of mulch in autumn or immediately after flowering.
