Terracotta citrus pot & hydrangea

  • Position: partial shade
  • Soil: moist, well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Flowering period: May to October
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Newly released in the UK, this hydrangea looks stunning in summer when laden with its lacecap-like flower clusters. A relatively compact shrub, it is ideal for larger patio pots. Like most of the macrophylla hydrangeas, the flower colour will vary depending upon the growing conditions, so in acidic soils the flowers will be blue, but in soils with a neutral or alkaline pH, they will remain pink.

This combination includes our terracotta citrus pot (Ø50cm x H45cm) so you can plant it up to enjoy on the patio (saucer sold separately).

To keep your pot in tip-top condition please read our ‘Assembly and care instructions’ PDF for more detailed advice.

Garden care: Keep it well watered and feed it with a good general purpose fertiliser throughout the growing season. When pruning, leave the old flower heads in place through the winter, but as the new shoots start to emerge in spring, cut back a third to a quarter of the previous season's flowering stems to the base and then cut back the remaining flower heads to the first pair of buds.
