Taxus is possibly one of the most popular plants for creating topiary, and we have got this one off to a flying start, by clipping it into a 40cm ball of dense needle-like foliage. A slow growing evergreen conifer, it offers year-round colour and form, it's tolerant of dry shade, chalky or acidic soils, and urban pollution.

  • Garden care: Trim or renovate in late summer or early autumn.

  • CAUTION toxic if eaten

This was a birthday present to myself, to replace a ravaged buxus ball. I received a beautiful, vibrant shrub which looks extremely healthy. It is a considered purchase but good value for the years of enjoyment I am anticipating from this long-lived plant. I plan to buy another later on the year.

I bought this plant for a first time gardener. Well really they are 'not really gardeners at all' so I recommended that they planted this in a container and put in the sun on the patio. It is sprouting and growing well. So this plant should flower this summer and look good.
