Buy Pinus sylvestris 'Watereri' Scots pine: Fabulous blue-green foliage

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: any well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: slow-growing
  • Other features: attractive, reddish bark
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Twisted, blue-green, needle-like leaves retained all year and oval or conical, green, female cones. This slow-growing form of Scots pine is perfect for a sunny, well-drained, rock garden. Upright in habit, it looks great planted alongside bold drifts of lime-tolerant heathers with contrasting foliage and flowers.

  • Garden care: Since this variety is very slow-growing pruning should be kept to a minimum.

  • Goes well with: Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chips', Erica cinerea 'Stephen Davis', Erica x darleyensis 'J. W. Porter', Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Pygmaea Argentea', Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Aurea', Pinus mugo 'Mops'.
