Buy Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blue' mop head hydrangea:

This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: moist, well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: July to August
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Large heads of bright blue flowers from July to August and coarsely toothed, dark green leaves. This compact, hortensia hydrangea is perfect for where border space is limited. Best in partial shade, on neutral soils a 'blueing compound' must be applied every 7-14 days to produce blue flowers. As the flower colour is influenced by the soil's pH, it is important that this is grown in acidic soils (or ericaceous compost in a pot).

  • Garden care: Hydrangeas do not like to dry out - particularly if they are grown in a sunny spot. Therefore, if they start to wilt in dry weather, soak the roots with a hose and the plant will usually bounce back. Remove faded flowerheads in spring after the danger of frosts, cutting back the flowered stems to a strong pair of buds. Take out misplaced or diseased shoots. Mulch young plants with a well-rotted manure or compost in spring. Once established, remove a quarter to a third of the shoots to the base of the plant.

I take it that the plant being ordered (Hygrandeas) is proportional to the pot size being selected and the price is proportional to the selected pot size also. I'm new to doing this and cannot see any selection boxes anywhere on the page that will enable me to choose a pot size. How do I go about it ? The page I am looking at is for a product on offer - Hygrandeas at a 30% reduction - there is no options menu that would enable me to choose a pot size.larger than the 15 cm one on offer. but I suspect there is one somewhere but where do I go to find it .? Thanks in anticipation.of your help.- Austin O'Byrne

Austino

Most of our hydrangeas are supplied as 2 litre plants. There may be some exceptions and there will be discounted plants from time to time as you have observed with the 30% discount. Our perennials often com in 9cm and 2 litre sizes depending on their development stage. Hope this helps.
