Buy Helenium autumnale 'Fuego' (PBR) (Mariachi Series) sneezeweed: Compact - and the flowers are incredible!

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: August to October
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

If you like fiery colours, then you will love this. It is a relatively new form and as it grows, it creates a compact clump that is topped from late summer with masses of flowerheads. These are incredibly showy, and made up of yellow-based, orange-red ray-florets (the things that look like petals) and a central boss of disc florets that change from brown to yellow as the head matures. It will add unbeatable colour late in the season and keep the display in the border looking great well into autumn.

  • Garden care: Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Lift and divide congested colonies in autumn or spring every two to three years.

Great Helenium Plant

Great garden plant and bees love it. Came well packed and grew on for about 5 months before planting in the garden. Now full of flowers and very healthy. One of the easiest garden plants to grow. Love them.

Amazing splash of warmth

Had this plant as part of a display of orange colours and it lasted through the summer and autumn. Deadheading very easy, rewarding us with masses of floral display. A treat to look out on to.
