Buy blueberry 'North Country' blueberry - mid season fruiting / Vaccinium 'North Country': A compact blueberry - ideal for pots

This plant is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil or ericaceous compost in a pot.
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

The deep blue berries of this compact bushy plant have a deliciously sweet flavour (much like that of a wild berry), and they are ready to harvest mid-season. Because it does not get too big, this is one of the best blueberries for a pot, and as it is more tolerant of lower temperatures than most, it is ideal for colder regions.

  • Garden care: Prepare the ground well before planting. Blueberries can also be grown in large pots and containers if ericaceous compost is used. Prune in winter, cutting out dead or damaged branches. In spring, feed with sulphate of ammonia, sulphate of potash and bonemeal and top-dress with ericaceous compost.
