    An impressive sight when in full bloom, this allium bears its large (up to 20cm in diameter) rounded heads of lilac-purple flowers on tall, stout stems in late spring and the early part of summer. They look wonderful when planted in drifts through the border, where their distinctive profile will help define softer or less structural planting. Plant enough, so you have some for the vase too!

  • Garden care: Plant the bulbs 15cm deep and 20cm apart to avoid the flowers being to crowded. Avoid excessive soil moisture and split and divide large clumps in autumn or spring.
