Another favourite amongst growers this is one of the oldest delphiniums but still one of the best. It is a deep true blue delphinium and has lovely open florets. The black eye adds drama to the overall impression this delphinium gives. It is a strong grower and usually achieves a height of 1.5m (5ft) in an average garden.
- Garden care: Stake with bamboo canes in mid-spring. During the growing season apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-3 weeks and wearing gloves cut back the faded flower stems to a flowering sideshoot. At the end of autumn cut back and compost the faded flower-stems
