- Garden care: Lift and divide large clumps in early spring. Protect the emerging stems from slugs and snails.
From the creeping, underground rhizomes, nodding, upright stems emerge each spring bearing long, pointed green leaves. A few weeks later the large, lantern-like, yellow flowers open, their twisted petals creating a beautiful effect. Thriving in partial to quite heavy shade, it is a wonderful plant for the woodland floor or for underplanting in an awkard spot in a dark border.
