Glorious, pale pink flowers open from red buds in mid and late spring, smothering the tree in a foam of blossom and concealing the small, bright green leaves. The small pea-like, golden-yellow fruit often persist into winter. This Japanese crab apple is dense and spreading in habit and makes a lovely ornamental tree for a sunny, urban site. The long-lasting fruit provide a valuable source of winter food for wildlife.

When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Removed dead, diseased and crossing branches while the tree is dormant.
- Goes well with:
Myrtus communis, Clematis viticella 'Purpurea Plena Elegans', Foeniculum vulgare 'Purpureum', Sedum 'Herbstfreude', Galanthus nivalis, Crocus tommasinanus
