  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moist, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: slow-growing
  • Flowering period: March to April
  • Flower colour: white
  • Hardiness:fully hardy

Forming a spreading, often multi-stemmed tree that is clothed with heart-shaped pale green leaves from spring to autumn, this redbud also produces a mass of white blooms along its bare stems each spring. If it is under-planted with winter or spring-flowering bulbs, it will create a year-round feature, that is worthy of a place in most moderately-sized gardens.

  • Garden care: Plant in their final location when young as they resent being transplanted. Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
