This wonderful plant will form a vase-shaped, multi-stemmed shrub, or by removing some of the lower branches while it is still young, you can train it to look more tree-like, with a short main stem. However you decide to grow it, you will be rewarded with glossy green leaves, and in summer, upright clusters of spidery, white flowers, which have a good scent. Throughout the winter when the stems are bare, the deeply furrowed and peeling bark adds further interest. A magnificent and rarely seen specimen.
- Garden care: Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
