  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile to poor, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: March to April
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Bright orange-yellow, bell- shaped flowers contrast with the unusual fern-like, dark green pinnate leaves, which clothe the zig-zaggy stems of this evergeen shrub. It makes and unusual and airy addition to the garden, while its structural form will also stand out if it's potted up.

  • Garden care: This is one of the hardier Sophoras, but even so, it may need some protection in colder regions - or in wet winters. Little pruning is needed, but it will benefit from an annual mulch of well-rotted organic matter.

    Comments about Sophora 'Little Baby':

A very unusual plant almost oriental in the way it looks.
