• Position: full sun or partial shade
• Soil: moist, well-drained, humus-rich, acid soil or ericaceous compost

  The low, spreading form of this evergreen azalea makes it ideal for the front of a mixed border or japanese-style garden where it will create year-round interest. The profuse display of velvety mauve flowers, which usually appear in May and June, are a welcome bonus.
  
  
• Garden care: Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
