This pretty English lavender has long been sought after, as its evergreen foliage is more silvery than most. From early summer, these silvery mounds are topped with pale purple flower-heads, which provide a very pretty contrast. It makes an excellent, fragrant hedging plant and looks wonderful edging paths or spilling over the front of a border. Ideally suited to sunny, well-drained positions, the flowers make pretty additions to posies and can be added to pot-pourri.

  • Garden care: Cut back the stalks after the flowers have faded. Carefully trim back again in April, taking care not to cut into the old wood.
