A lovely, evergreen tree with huge, glossy green leaves with reddish brown hairs underneath. Massive creamy white, cup-shaped flowers are produced at the end of the shoots from late summer to early autumn. A gorgeous tree that is ideal for growing against a warm wall where the brittle branches will be protected from the wind.

  • Garden care: Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in spring. The best time to plant is in April, adding plenty of peat to the planting hole, in a sheltered spot. Mulch in spring with manure and leafmould, especially on dry soils.
