  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well drained, moisture-retentive and firm

Excellent quality crisp, round-headed cabbages with dense, heavy hearts but little core, so there's very little wastage and you make the most of the generous, well-flavoured heads. Mature plants stand for a long time without splitting, so you can cut them as you need them: they also store well kept in a dark, cool place.

  • Growing Instructions: Sow into a well-prepared seedbed in late spring in shallow drills 1.5cm deep, thinning seedlings to 15cm apart. Can also be sown a little earlier into seed trays under cover. Plant out into growing sites when plants are 15cm tall, spacing about 45cm apart. Protect from slugs and net against pigeons. When cutting cabbages leave the stems in the ground and they'll produce a secondary crop of small, sweet sprouts from the cut stem.

  • Sow: April-May

  • Harvest: July-September

  • Approximate quantity: 85 seeds.
