  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: humus-rich, moisture retentive soil

A real breakthrough in breeding, this is the first cauliflower to show resistance to clubroot – a debilitating disease which can devastate brassica crops on allotments and in veg gardens. 'Clapton' can be safely planted in areas previously infected with clubroot, producing a good crop of excellent quality white curds well protected by a good head of leaves.

  • Growing Instructions:Sow early into trays or modules under cover and pot on as soon as seedlings are large enough to handle, or later into a well-prepared seed bed in drills. Thin to 10cm apart and plant into final growing places once they have five or six leaves, allowing 45cm between plants. Protect against slugs and net against pigeons. Sowing cauliflowers under cover and growing on in pots until they are sturdy young plants before planting outside can help them tolerate clubroot infection better.

  • Sow: April-June

  • Harvest: July-October

  • Approximate quantity: 30 seeds.
