  Sugar peas, or snow peas, are a true delicacy in the veg garden, so sweet and tender you can eat them pod and all. 'Delikett' is one of the best, producing a heavy crop of completely stringless pods which need hardly any preparation: pick, top and tail, and steam very lightly before enjoying that superb flavour to the full. Unlike mangetout you pick snow peas once the pods have started to round, but don't leave them too long as they lose their tenderness with age. The flowers are edible too and look pretty sprinkled over salads.
  
  
• Growing Instructions: Make a broad flat-bottomed drill 5cm deep and 10cm wide and place the peas in a double row, Protect from mice and slugs. 'Delikett' is a compact variety, growing to about 60cm, so is also a good choice for containers: sow about 10 seeds to a 35cm pot. Support plants with short twiggy peasticks as they grow. Keep plants well watered especially in dry periods.
