  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, moist but well drained

Superb quality peas on big, robust semi-leafless plants which have excellent resistance to powdery mildew so keep cropping for longer. The pea pods are long, fat and blunt with up to nine tightly-packed peas in each, sweet and very good quality. Two or three sowings through the season will keep the harvest coming well into autumn. If you pick pea pods very young, while still flat, you can eat them whole as tender and sweet mangetout. The flowers are edible too and look pretty sprinkled over salads.

  • Growing Instructions:Make a broad flat-bottomed drill 5cm deep and 10cm wide and place the peas in a double row, staggered for better air circulation, before back-filling with soil and watering in. Protect from mice and slugs, and once seedlings are about 15cm tall support with twiggy peasticks or canes and netting.
